PHIL Brown will continue to assess three trialists when Southend face Braintree at Cressing Road tomorrow afternoon.

Gavin Hoyte, latterly of Dagenham, ex-Bradford winger Craig Fagan and former Spurs wide man Romain-Michael Percil will all play a part in what is likely to be Southend’s toughest pre-season task yet.

The Iron enjoyed a fantastic season in the Conference last year, falling away at the end to just miss out on the play-offs, and are the highest-ranked opposition the Shrimpers have faced in friendlies so far.

Brown has suggested at least one defender may also be trialed during the game, with Nabil Aslam being told he will not be getting a contract.
