I have a 75 gallon fish tank that houses my 22-year-old red eared slider. We needed something to keep the flow of the water moving as it started to begin to form that oily film at the top of the water line despite having a super high efficiency and high output filter. I tried a wave maker previously from a different name brand and was really disappointed as it broke within the first day. I was reluctant to try another type but I decided to give this a try as it looked better suited for my needs. I can definitely verify that the durability is there. My red eared slider is very frisky and likes to investigate everything. She investigated the wave maker for approximally 5 minutes, she loved the way it felt with the flow of water running across her, she actually closed her eyes and floated in front of it for several minutes. At that point she let it be. She has not messed with it since. But she still goes about 6 in from it and wedges herself between her aquascape and the wave maker flow and falls asleep every night since I put it in. I’m thinking that it’s like a little spa for her. The overall quality, in my opinion, is a premium made product. This wave maker functions absolutely perfect and it’s been running now for several weeks. So I would say it’s functionality is on par. The value for the money is definitely there because this is built as a purpose specific duty. The flow rate has two different options. The first being a straight jet of water being pushed by the propeller. The second mode you can get to just by sliding this small piece of blue plastic in the opposite direction it’s at. This opens the back of the propellers intake and slows down the jet of water making it more of a conical jet instead of a cylindrical jet, if that makes sense. For my needs specifically, I have it on the conical setting where it sucks in the water from the back of the propeller and throws it out the front in a conical shape. This not only keeps the water moving throughout the entire tank but also breaks the surface tension which then allows the filter to filter out oily top layer that forms when you have stagnant water. I can’t speak more highly of this wave maker as this is absolutely perfect for my needs. The magnet is super strong. I have a pretty thick tempered glass tank walls and it has no problem sticking firmly to the magnet that’s placed outside of us tank. It doesn’t budge even when the turtle knocks into it. I am so impressed by the way this wave maker is engineered. It actually has its own four-point shock absorbing disc system. There’s four rubber feet that fit through a disc that leads to the ball joint that allows you to position the jet. This ensures that If at any time it becomes harmonically unstable, it will be able to handle it because the rubber feet will flex to accommodate what the propeller is trying to do. It also helps when the turtle accidentally knocks into it. Overall, my experience has been absolutely outstanding and I am very glad I got this as I was losing hope that I would find one that’s durable enough to withstand an adult 22-Year-Old red eared slider. I can with complete and absolute confidence recommend this to anybody looking for a very powerful wave maker and water circulator for a larger tank. This wave maker is so powerful, I don’t think I would recommend anything less than a 75 gallon tank. I am going to be getting another one of these in a smaller wattage and flow rate for my shrimp breeding tank that is 55 gallons. This manufacturer has definitely earned repeat business from me. I would not hesitate to pick this up when you can if it fits your needs. Quality like this is hard to find nowadays.
