You’ll receive dedicated instruction tailored to your pace and experience level, as we work together to create a beautifully finished buttercream cake with a striking side elevation design. During your session, you’ll be guided through the process of working with buttercream — from preparing your sponge layers to achieving a smooth, professional finish. We’ll demonstrate how to make basic professional buttercream and introduce you to the Swiss meringue method. For ease and to keep costs minimal, we’ll use our pre-prepared professional frosting during the practical elements of the class. What You’ll Learn: How to divide, level, fill, and stack a deep 6” sponge cake using jam and buttercream Application of a crumb coat and how to achieve a clean, crusted finish Colouring buttercream to suit your desired palette Creating the modern tiered buttercream texture Covering polystyrene (faux) balls with coloured sugar paste Mixing edible gold paint and adding a gold edge to your design Using sprinkles and the splatter effect to personalise your creation While your crumb coat sets, we’ll also begin decorating your faux elements and prepare your finishing touches.
